How much faster would you be able to grow your business?
How much freedom, happiness, and joy would that bring into your life?
This powerful ally exists. However, only a few entrepreneurs know about the principles within which that partner operates.
If you want to speed up your business success, these 7 key principles in Nature are the help you need.
1. Resource Efficiency
Natural systems like forests use resources efficiently. Nothing goes to waste and everything is maximized for energy use.
No other process is known as efficient like plants converting sunlight into energy through photosynthesis.
Are you taking care of your body as a resource to remain efficient? Neglecting yourself is no base for lasting success. It’s a recipe for disaster.
Start to be efficient with yourself! The FARMISH mindset takes care of all elements in your life.
2. Interdependence
Elements in natural systems often rely on each other in symbiotic relationships. For example, bees pollinate flowers while collecting nectar, benefiting both species.
Or mushrooms feed trees with nutrients to get protective shade.
In business, we often oversee the interconnectedness between departments. How many businesses do you know where the sales team doesn’t go hand in hand with the production department?
If departments aren’t aware they’re connected, it’s the beginning of a dangerous cycle. As a respected entrepreneur, it’s your job to connect and integrate your staff — between all departments.
3. Resilience
Natural systems are resilient, able to adapt to changes, and recover from disturbances. For example, forests regenerate after fires, maintaining biodiversity and ecosystem functions.
Some species adapted so well to these events, that their seeds only germinate after a fire.
A creative job is as stressful as morning traffic in London or Paris. The mental ability to adapt and react to unexpected events makes you eligible for huge earnings. Remaining alert and prepared for shifting events was and is always a good thing.
It’s Nature’s top score skill for winners in all fields.

4. Diversity
Biodiversity enhances stability and resilience in ecosystems. A variety of species ensures that if one species fails, others can fill its role.
I lost almost my entire trading company in 2009 when the economic crisis hit my customers in full. With my main activities in the construction industry then, I wasn’t able to change fast enough my services to a declining customer base. Lesson learned: I never relied on a single income source anymore.
Diversity is key. In nature and business.
5. Recycling and Reuse
Natural systems recycle nutrients and materials. Decomposers break down organic matter. They return nutrients to the soil for plants to use. Dying organic matter becomes the life source for new growth.
Many successful people and business owners are obsessed with this key principle.
Remember IKEA founder Ingvar Kamprad?
He not only became a billionaire by selling a lot of furniture to his clients. But also for being a “psychopath” regarding paper waste in his company. It was literally forbidden to throw away paper in his offices.
Every piece of paper was reused as paper for handwritten notes.
Imagine how much money was saved over the years. Considering all the IKEA offices worldwide…?
6. Self-Regulation
Natural systems have mechanisms to maintain balance and prevent the overuse of resources. Predator-prey relationships, for example, help regulate population sizes.
Chances are you heard about the famous wolf rewilding project in the Rocky Mountains.
The reintroduction of wolves to the wilderness succeeded. It led to unexpected but welcome effects. Not only helped the wolves to keep the deer population at bay.
But interestingly, many species found a new home, among them also beavers.
Biodiversity found new strength. It came from self-regulating behavior by one species!
As entrepreneurs, we are under constant influence. Trends, opportunities, and the ever-existing fear of missing out. It’s a good idea to have a self-regulation mechanism in place.
Because, let’s be honest, we all have our babies in the company we lead. In my activities it’s marketing. Fascinated by it.
But it’s dangerous to allocate the biggest budget always in one department. It’s important to have somebody with the eagle-like overview.
7. Adaptation
Species in nature evolve and adapt to their environment. This ensures their survival and efficient use of resources. This continuous adaptation in nature helps maintain equilibrium within the ecosystem.
Let’s pretend you’re a writer like I am.
What’s to adapt in writing you ask?
Isn’t it creating sentences with words to express feelings or to tell a good story?
You’re right. That didn’t change much.
But if you don’t adapt to the needs of your readers, you shortly won’t have any.
Formatting, skimmability, readability, flow, modern headlines, and even word count.
Things that didn’t bother people like Hemingway or Camus. Not at all!
In a fast-changing world, adaptation remains my favorite of these principles.
Final thoughts
In our tech-dominated world, we usually don’t consider help or ideas coming from sources other than apps, AI, or SaaS programs.
But the one system that functions the longest on our planet is Nature.
Seems, mother nature did a lot of stuff the right way.
Sometimes, taking a step back, resting and asking the question “How would nature handle this issue” is the perfect way to get the needed hints for a successful future.
As an entrepreneur.
Business owner.
Human.
Knowing and incorporating the above 7 nature-inspired principles are sometimes eye-opening.
And Nature is the only ally you need.
Even as a simple writer as I am…
Thank you for reading. If you give my words a like, others can find it too. And you make my day! :-)
See you all next Saturday,
Daniel
