F is for Freedom
The freedom you need - probably isn’t what you think it is.
Do you remember when Arnold Schwarzenegger said “F*ck your freedom”?
It was during the pandemic. A viral meltdown. A shocking sentence.
And for many people, a breaking point. Trust evaporated. Fan base shattered.
But if you read between the outrage, the deeper truth was this:
Freedom isn’t just about doing what you want. It's about being mentally strong, staying physically healthy, and holding onto your values. Especially when things get tough.
And that’s exactly where this letter fits into the FARMISH series.
In the first post, I told you: 👉 You don’t need more discipline. You need to be restored.
But here’s the deal: when your energy returns… when you stop crashing at 3 p.m. and sleep well again…
You begin to feel it. That quiet ache for something you’ve been missing for years:
Not just rest. Freedom.
🎯 Let’s talk about it…
You’ve done the right things. You’ve built a life that mostly works. You have a responsibility. Some status. Some stability.
But you’re still not free.
And that’s not just frustrating. It’s slowly suffocating you.
Let me show you what really happens.
1. Your Calendar Is Full, but You Have No Time
Every day starts in a rush. You’re juggling tasks, clients, teams, kids, and still feeling like you’re behind. Even weekends feel more like maintenance than relaxation.
Time for yourself?
Pfff, yes, I'm kidding.
This isn’t a time-management issue. It’s a systemic mismatch between your values and your commitments.
🔧 Try This: 10-Minute Calendar Audit Open your calendar. For each item this week, mark it: 🔴 Energy-draining 🟡 Neutral 🟢 Energy-restoring
Now cancel, delegate, or delay just one red item. Don’t justify it. Just do it. That’s a micro-move toward freedom—and it starts now.
You don’t need a sabbatical. And no timeout in a monastery or retreat in Vietnam.
You most certainly just need space in your actual life.
2. You Censor Yourself More Than You Realize
Freedom isn’t only about time or money. It’s about being able to say what you truly think—without fear.
But at work, in your extended family, or even online… You edit. You scan the room. You play it safe. Like a cat in unknown territory.
And it’s wearing you down.
🔧 Try This: One Honest Sentence Choose one real life person you trust. Then say something you’ve been holding back. Like: “I’ve been thinking differently about ___ lately. Can I share it with you?”
You’re not trying to provoke. You’re trying to stop disappearing.
3. You Built Something Stable—but It Traps You Now
You’ve created a business, career, or lifestyle that looks successful. And it probably is.
But now… it owns you.
You worry that if you stop, slow down, or change direction, you’ll lose everything you’ve built.
That’s not freedom. That’s expensive captivity.
🔧 Try This: True Cost Check
Ask yourself: “What is this level of income, or this business, costing me?”
If your answer includes things like peace, health, clarity, or time—you’re paying too much.
Then ask: “What’s one way I can test a little more freedom—without burning it all down?” Maybe it's turning down one client. Maybe it’s blocking a real weekend. Or - it’s admitting what’s no longer worth it.
🧠 You’re Not Trapped Because You Lack Options.
You’re trapped because you’ve been trained to ignore them.
And now you’re waking up. And you've lost the instinct to see your options.
That’s why this letter matters.
And because freedom has so many faces...
🛠 Quick Recap – 3 Micro-Moves Toward Freedom
Audit your calendar. Cancel or reschedule one energy-draining event this week.
Speak one honest sentence. Choose someone you trust and stop hiding.
Challenge one financial fear. Make a tiny shift toward choice, not just survival.
You don’t need to change your life overnight. But you do need to stop pretending it’s working.

It might be the first real permission they’ve gotten in a long time.

Of course it’s fine 😄 time is precious and I appreciate your post all the same 😉
The last few weeks have been different. It doesn’t feel natural yet, to simply remove things from my calendar or to speak more openly, but there is definitely a shift in my thought process. I’m finding my pace with it all and ignoring the ‘it’s all going to fall apart’ catastrophising warning signals I usually bow to. Things are good. Heading in the right direction. 💪
I cannot express how genuinely impressed I am by this article. I think next week at work is going to be a turning point for me and I’m really excited about it.
