What Does Freedom Even Mean?
Hi, my fearless friend,
We all think we understand "freedom."
But, if you ask a room full of people to define it, you'd get a gazillion of answers. At its core, freedom means living by your values. It means pursuing your goals and expressing your true self without unjustified limits.
Simple in theory, right?
But why does freedom matter so much for happiness? Basically, it's this: when we’re free, we’re able to align our lives with what truly matters to us. Freedom enables and fuels joy, curiosity, and fulfillment. Without it, even the most luxurious lifestyle feels like a cage. Often, the famous golden cage...
The Prisoner’s Life: Constraints At the Highest Level
Imagine being locked in a small cell for years. Your movements restricted. Your choices? Nope - isn't happening. This is the harsh reality for most prisoners. Their lives show, in an extreme way, the pain of losing all freedom.
But the unexpected truth is:
Most of us walk into our own mental prisons every day. By our own choice. We allow external expectations, fears, and self-imposed rules to lock us up.
Right? Isn't that weird?
The constraints may not be physical. But it hurts anyway and the impact on our happiness is just as real.
Are You Living in a Mental Zoo?
Think of a lion in a zoo. Behind bars, it has everything it needs to survive:
food,
water,
even medical care.
Yet, it’s not free. That lion was born to roam vast landscapes. And hunt for its meals, living according to its genetic instincts. Under the bright Serengeti sun.
Are we that different?
Many of us are like those zoo animals. Society provides the essentials. But at what cost? In exchange, we often trade away our autonomy. Because it's convenient. Social norms, career pressures. Relationship expectations.
Yes, sometimes even our own doubts can create invisible cages. We play it safe, stick to routines, and avoid risks. At the expense of our happiness.
You’ve ever felt like there’s more to life than your current reality?
Welcome to the club!
That’s your inner lion roaring.
But what to do?
Three Steps to Rediscover Your Freedom
Breaking free doesn’t mean quitting your job. Or abandoning your responsibilities. True freedom starts in your head. Here are three steps to help you rediscover it.
Arm yourself with a pen and paper or open your laptop. We'll start right away with the practical part:
Identify Your Invisible Bars: Take time to reflect on what’s holding you back. Is it fear of failure? The need to please others? Identify these constraints so you can address them head-on.
Rewrite Your Inner Believe System: Often, the most limiting beliefs are the ones we impose on ourselves. Replace thoughts like "I can’t" with "What if I try?" and watch how possibilities open up.
Create Small Habits That Foster Independence: Start by carving out time! Time for what makes you feel alive. Whether it’s a hobby, learning something new, or connecting with Nature. It's the small changes that add up to a freer, happier life.
Nature’s Blueprint for Freedom
Nature is the ultimate teacher of freedom. Think about how a river flows. As long as no humans decide otherwise, it never stops because of obstacles. It adapts, finds new paths, and keeps moving forward.
Animals in the wild don’t second-guess their instincts or worry about judgment. No leopard ever thought about the ethics of hunting. He just hunts. Animals live with purpose and balance.
Why shouldn't you too?
I structured my life and coaching with the simple principles of permaculture. In permaculture, freedom is a core principle. That is the main reason why I am such a radical advocate of personal freedoms.
They are simply against nature. And this has never worked.
Every element in an ecosystem has a role. But also the necessary flexibility to adapt. A thriving garden isn’t micromanaged. That would constrict him. It’s supported to grow naturally. On its own terms.
What if you approached your life the same way? Forcing things? Not anymore. Allow yourself to flow. Set boundaries that protect your time and energy. Nurture the areas of your life that bring joy and growth.
Your Journey to Freedom Could Start Today
True freedom isn’t about rejecting responsibilities. Quite the contrary. It’s about reclaiming your choices. And, foremost, it’s about stepping out of the mental cages and living in alignment with your values.
But consider this:
Start with baby steps.
Reflect on what makes you feel caged.
Write it down. (Did you, when I asked you?). :-)

My crypto is in a much better place than, say, a bank. It's time to change the way America controls other countries in the world with tariffs or other military threats. I think every country should have equal opportunities for growth so that one country doesn't control everyone and treat them like one. Everyone can see how crazy decisions and everything that is happening in America right now.
I think this should have happened before I became interested in crypto. Since my youth, I have wondered why the US is at war here and there. And how can one country rule the world? Now I understand and saw the best.
