Harness the Power of Nature: 3 Reasons It's Your Ultimate Guide in Tough Choices
Why do we see forests, animals, and greenery when we hear the word "nature"?
What if we made nature and its rules our assistant?
A kind of ChatGPT - only much wiser.
A crazy idea.
But not so unrealistic, as you'll see in a moment.
Hi everyone!
Using nature as a guide for life is not a new idea.
For thousands of years, people have lived by the ideas and rhythm of nature.
And it is becoming trendy again to listen to nature.
Especially in hectic and eventful times like today, people long for stability.
Many find in nature the help they are looking for to make important decisions; but how exactly?
Lessons from the Natural World
By utilizing three basic elements of nature.
Adaptability:
Nothing fascinates me more than this element of nature.
Flexibility in thought and action and the permanent ability to adapt are fundamental characteristics of all inhabitants of nature. Imagine how nature deals with catastrophic influences.
A landslide, a flood, or even a forest fire.
The first inhabitants adapt to the new situation within days or even a few hours.
They build new nests, burrows, etc., and keep themselves from being diverted from their goal.
And the goal is survival!
Aren't we much better off? After all, we don't just want to survive...
Balance:
Do you also feel better when the world around you is in order?
Balance and harmony are basic elements that nature craves.
Wherever there is a danger of them falling out of balance, nature corrects its course.
This is easy to observe when there is a shortage of food.
We rarely have to fight for our food.
But a little more balance between work and private life wouldn't harm us, would it?
Patience:
As the French King Louis XIV said: Impatience for victory guarantees defeat.
And how right he was.
The third of our basic elements is easy to observe in nature.
No cat, eagle, or crocodile would ever eat without the necessary patience when hunting.
Being successful thanks to patience has an extraordinary side effect.
You gain confidence in yourself and thus the opportunity to grow.
How to Harness Nature's Power
Adaptability, balance, and patience are our teachers.
Where and how can we find them?
Let's talk about how these old-fashioned elements find their place in our modern lives and how we use them.
These elements help me the most when I am looking for answers.
For example:
Finding Clarity and Insight:
An old saying goes, "Don't judge a stranger until you've walked in their shoes".
So perspective is crucial in judging a situation.
Is this new job really that much better?
Is there no other way to be happy with my partner again?
Many of our daily worries need us to look at things from a different perspective.
So what can we do?
We are all different and so I can't give you a guaranteed prescription.
But I can tell you what helps me to make important decisions.
- Long walks, also known as mindfulness walks. Go for a walk, let your thoughts hang, and don't judge the feelings that arise. Let ideas come and go, take a deep breath, and enjoy the sounds.
- Make journal entries outside in the open air. Journaling in a park, forest or lake takes on an unexpected new dimension. Thoughts clarify and often you can express them more simply.
As you can see, you don't need expensive new equipment or a lot of time to make the most of nature.
Anyone can fit a clarifying walk or a visit to the park into their busy calendar.
Problems often become much clearer and the solution seems to appear by itself.
Building Resilience and Confidence:
More and more resilience is being demanded of us all; at work and in our private lives.
The time pressure has become unbearable for many.
It therefore makes all the more sense to find an ally.
- Getting closer to nature and enjoying it more can help you to find the strength you need for everyday life. Regular interactions in nature help you trust yourself. They also make decisions easier.
All types of water are powerful places. Streams, rivers, and lakes reflect incredible energy. You should use it. Even touching a tree lets you feel its power. You may feel a little strange at first - but enjoy it.
- There may also be meet-ups or clubs in your area that promote contact with nature. Or you could look for a coach who doesn't see nature as a sales pitch. But also lives what he teaches.
In times of social unrest, uncertainty, and the violent advance of new technologies such as robots and AI, it can't hurt to rely on old knowledge and insights.
Even if this may seem very old-fashioned and weird at first, nature still has a say.
- Adaptability
- Balance
- Patience
These are fundamental skills that we can learn from nature.
If you reconnect with nature, you will find strengths in your life. You may have been missing them for some time.
Use this power.
Make it your assistant.
You can learn and experience more from nature than ChatGPT will ever be able to show you.
Thanks for reading! And now go out and spent some time in Nature! :-)
