How Far Would You Go to Protect Your Freedom?
Grandpa would be very disappointed today.
When the police broke down the door to her son's room at three in the morning, Yin Shaotzen knew that she would never see him again.
Her cries and pleas were useless. As soon as the police arrived at the door, she realized that Hao was in trouble.
After all, it wasn't the first time.
Hao hated his country. No, actually just the government. And he said so too. Sometimes not carefully enough, though. And on this one evening, the government had had enough of this troublemaker.
They came for him.

Freedom of Speech is dangerous.
As a resident of a Western country, I find the above little story to make immediate sense.
Sure. The names sound Chinese. Yes, that's what the police do there.
However, the story has a small hitch. It is fictitious.
But it could be real.
Just not in the countries we think of first.
For some months now, it has been dangerous to speak your mind in public or write on social media. The highly praised and once-celebrated freedom of expression is becoming a problem.
For certain governments such as the UK, for example. Anyone who publicly expresses criticism of politics, government, or even members of parliament runs the risk of being caught up in the mills of justice. And the judiciary seems to ignore certain laws from days gone by...
The days of glorious free speeches in London's famous Hyde Park are probably over. The “Speakers Corners” where anyone could express their displeasure with the government or politics may soon be history.
Who knows, maybe they will be transformed into “virtual reality game” corners...
That's nasty speculation, I know.
But the fact remains that in 2024 over 3000 people were arrested and convicted in Great Britain for freedom of expression.
Although the pressure from the population is increasing, the government shows zero will to grant freedom of expression its original value as an essential component of liberty. Quite the opposite.
London's police chief “Mark Rowley” threatened not only his residents with a visit from his mercenaries but the whole world. Or at least the USA.
So you're allowed to have opinions in England. But don't say them out loud...
What about elsewhere?
Better?
International context: freedom of expression in danger.
It has long been confirmed that countries such as China, Russia, Iran, and Afghanistan treat opponents of the government in cold blood. Too many videos and documents have proven what was only suspected for a long time. It is not only obvious dictatorships like North Korea that see oppression as a form of government. (If you're reading this from North Korea, I want to know you - you must be an expert in VPN!)
The virus is spreading.
When we hear about Brazil, most think of Copacabana, cocktails, beaches, and tropical rainforests. Vacation.
Or, if you're a man, perhaps about the beautiful women at the carnival.
Shhhh.
Brazil has a lot more to offer recently. The public downfall of a once great democracy. And the beginning of a dictatorship.
The leader has already been chosen. And I deliberately don't write “elected”...
The social media platform Twitter/X was banned in Brazil a few days ago. And in France, the founder/owner of Telegram was arrested.
The fact that more and more people are reporting on the unjust and shameful conditions in their home countries is becoming too much for some globalists and politicians.
Freedom of expression is in danger - or is it more?
What does freedom mean to you?
If you live in a “free” country, do you ever think about freedom?
What is it anyway?
Well, one of the problems we have with the term freedom is that it means different things to different people! Of course, there is a Wikipedia definition. But it's irrelevant. Because what counts is what the word means to you.
We distinguish between two dimensions of freedom:
personal freedom (individual choice, self-determination)
social freedom (political and social rights).
Personal freedom is guaranteed if I can move and express myself freely on everything that concerns me. Without having to be afraid of saying or doing the wrong thing. This includes, for example, the freedom to choose where I live, my profession, and my private activities.
And, of course, having the choice to leave my country of residence!
For me, social freedom means that my rights as a person and citizen of a country are guaranteed and respected. Political rights such as elections and voting are often mentioned here.
However, as I have only experienced politics as parasitism and kleptocratism for years, I am not interested in such rights. At most, their abolition.
The consequences are unimaginable - or are they?
Far more intelligent people, philosophers, and other thinkers than I am are largely in agreement. Giving up freedom means losing our humanity. As humans, we are creative mammals, constantly striving for improvement. When we prohibit this creativity, horrible things happen.
As the following example shows.
I happen to live in an ex-communist country.
Yes, voluntarily!
I have been living in Romania for 20 years. Yes, because my wife is from here.
And she experienced communism. Even if only as a child.
However, countless discussions with my parents-in-law gave me a complete picture of the conditions back then.
And they had a lot to do with personal freedom. Or the lack of it.
Right after your school education (which was anything but politically neutral), the state determined where you were allowed to study, learn, or work. Personal preferences?
Not so much!
The vast majority of jobs were state-run.
Sometimes you could only buy beans and flour in the store. And queuing for bread was the rule, not the exception.
The dangers of losing freedom
What happens to people who are under the influence of drugs?
Exactly.
They don't care about anything. The deprivation of personal or social freedom has similar effects.
Since the state runs your whole life anyway, why should you make an effort?
Creativity, the will to achieve, and the urge to significantly improve your life are nipped in the bud.
And this had such effects in Romania:
The factory that produced nothing
Once upon a time, there was a factory in a small town. A two-hour drive from my small homestead. The ruins can still be seen today. However, the gates have long since closed.
The purpose and task of this state-run company was to develop prototypes.
Prototypes for household appliances. Vacuum cleaners, mixers, cooking appliances, etc.
Around one hundred employees went to work every day for 14 years. From 7.00 in the morning until 15.00 in the afternoon. They started their work on time, each in their department.
But what work?
They were not given any guidelines. Any goals. The state had not prescribed exactly what was to be done.
To be clear: the company did not develop a single device in 14 years.
Not a single one!
That's what the loss of freedom does to a person:
Creativity dwindles
Indifference increases
Self-abandonment
Inability to formulate common goals with others
History has taught us many times that people's will to achieve great things sinks towards zero. If their freedom is restricted or even taken away completely. Examples from the former USSR or today's North Korea are evidence.
We humans need freedom to maintain our desire to achieve.
What kind of freedom in the future?
If the globalists have their way, our freedoms, which we once thought were secure, will be significantly restricted. The wet dreams of Klaus Schwab of the World Economic Forum clearly point to communism.
His statements such as: “You will own nothing and you’ll be happy” are clear for me to understand.
For some years, attempts have been made at all levels to restrict our freedom. Sometimes with the most obscure justifications. Here are a few examples:
Cash-free economy
The loss of our cash would give the state total control over us. Giving your godchild a grant for the bike they want. Not a chance. The globally pushed introduction of a CBDC (Central Bank Digital Card) would be the death knell for freedom. Only the state would determine how much and for what you can spend your card money.
15-minute cities
Living in a city where everything you need is within a 15-minute walk sounds tempting at first. But what very few people realize is that this limits their freedom of movement. At some point, your city will no longer allow you to leave your zone. Probably to save the climate…
In my generation, such zones are called ghettos. They are nothing more than prisons. Without a roof.
Loss of authority over the body
My body is the last bastion to defend against the state. You are responsible for the condition of your body. And you also decide what goes into it. From food and drinks to treatments and medication. It is and must be your decision how you treat your body.
Just writing this makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. No state in the world has the right to control my body.
If we allow the state to do so, we will end up exactly where we were before. It isn’t that long since…
And it was agreed after the Second World War that this should never be allowed again.
Free formation of opinion
If you are influenced your whole life by the opinion of a single television or radio station, you will not have an objective view of the world. Most people tend to forget that all media belongs to someone. Someone who pursues interests. Mostly their own. I therefore strongly recommend that you follow the money. Ask who profits the most.
More and more politicians want the media to be monitored, controlled, or even closed down. Twitter/X and Telegram are just the latest examples. People who only listen to state-approved opinions are every communist's dream.
What can we do to preserve our freedom?
Ask questions, questions, and more questions. Above all, always ask questions about the provider of the desired narrative. And seek answers. Having an opinion means being informed! It's non-negotiable.
Most ideas that seem great at first glance are linked to today's disease of convenience. Everything has to be convenient today. But this is always associated with a restriction of freedom. Short or long term.
So if you give up your freedom in favor of “subjective” safety, you will end up losing both.
Freedom as rebellion: conclusion
I can't imagine a life without freedom. I have always fought for my freedom and that of others in my small world. Be it with words or deeds. Just the thought that someone could forbid you to express your opinion gives me a migraine like after a bad wine.
I don't want to live in a world run by oligarchs and globalists. We are all children of nature. The basic principle of nature is freedom. Every animal in the wild is born with freedom.
Perhaps you also have a kind of life motto? A quote or a piece of wisdom that influences and determines your life.
Do you want to know mine?
For me, there is nothing more important than freedom. That's why this quote is the one that has guided me my whole life:
“The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.” Albert CAMUS
True freedom is always a certain act of resistance. Especially in a world that often wants to push us into bondage.
How free do you feel? Are there things that restrict you?
Tell me in the comments how free your life feels and what you do to protect your freedom.
To your eternal freedom,
Daniel

Let Freedom Ring 🔔🔔🔔
I live in America and we do have our issues here for sure.
Just look at our last election.. We The People are not gonna let that happen again 💪
I’ve read about what’s going on in the UK and other countries and I’m thinking how did this happen?
Excuse my expression, but who in the hell are these people making these ridiculous rules and restrictions? In the UK wasn’t there a new leader elected recently? Is this who the people voted for?
Is this guy crazy?
Reading all the issues that you are addressing, and then part of the answer is to keep asking questions and communication with others. Remember Covid? The masks? Well, that was part of an agenda to keep us from communicating with each other and keep us distanced. It also had to do with child trafficking, and not being able to identify the child or the perpetrator. Off with their heads 🤯
One of the main issues of our next election here in America is the right to abort. They’re calling it “women’s rights”. Well, if women are so psyched up and psyched out about this issue about whether they can abort a fetus, which is actually a human being at the first heartbeat, why are they not in uproar about vaccines for their bodies? Hypocrisy, hypocrisy, hypocrisy
They claim our bodies, our choice! Are women in America so completely hormone unbalanced or off their rockers to claim rights to abort for their bodies, and not the right to refuse a vaccine? Are you freaking kidding me? It really ticks me off. I can say this as a woman 👩🏻⚕️
You ask how I feel about freedom… hopefully I’ve made it clear in my above statements.
Now, how am I going protect my freedoms?
By getting out and advocating through educating others locally, in the county and in the state.
By making sure that the people that are running for office mean what they say by looking at their past records and asking them a lot of questions about issues.
By never giving up and speaking out, whatever the cost….
Even the cost of my life ⚔️
And I will go down with my finger on the you know what, using my second amendment right.
We do have those rights in America 🇺🇸
I see condemnation from people all over the world, speaking about America and our gun laws.
The gun laws aren’t the problem. Guns don’t kill people. Crazy people kill people.
In every single one of the school shootings, even the theater shooting where the guy dressed up as the joker and the incident in Maine - psychiatrists notifyied law-enforcement, law-enforcement knew about these people, and even the FBI in some of the situations and they did NOTHING!
Why?
Because they want to use these examples to take away peoples guns so we can NOT protect ourselves from whoever’s threatening us, including our own government- if they get out of control. This is one of the reasons for our second amendment. Out of control government 😳
Some may feel this is a “little strong”, but let’s just say I feel very strongly about my freedom, your freedom and everybody’s freedom ⛓️💥 if we sit back and say nothing, and do nothing, this will be the result. Then my question is who’s fault is it really?
Thanks for the thought provoking article Daniel.
I hope it gets people thinking about this, because time is running out for some ⏰
Daniel, this is a significant topic. Thank you for opening it.
In addition to all our external prohibitions and restrictions, we should eliminate our internal bans and restrictions. What do we not allow ourselves? Where do we break communication with ourselves? What do we carry inside us that limits us? The world is made up of individuals, and I believe that as a collective, we can achieve true freedom only when we individually clear "our backyard" of obstacles...
Without it, the collective consciousness will remain at a low level, and we will have difficulty dealing with external restrictions on freedom.
