I Did the Unthinkable - and Never Looked Back
Could you too?
Today I’d like to start the newsletter with an apology.
Exactly!
My day yesterday was full of spontaneous and emotional events. That's why my words are coming a day late.
Sorry!
What happened, you ask?
Well, to be precise, two reasons and events mixed up my day a bit.
The sad one was the news of a dear friend. Her mother passed away after a long illness. The associated pain had a particular impact on our day too.
Towards the evening, I had a relatively unplanned Zoom call with the lovely and highly interesting coaching colleague Linda G. Robert.
This vibrant Canadian lady is a source of inspiration. And as a travel coach, she is on a mission. She helps people to transform their lives. To bring them back into balance. To create clarity.
How does she do that?
She sends her clients on journeys!
Is there a better way to explore horizons?
Check out her YouTube Channel to learn more.
We got on so well that she invited me to be a guest on her podcast.
What an honor. I’m looking forward to the experience. And of course, I'll keep you up to date.
But now to today's topic.
🏡*The FARMISH Mindset*🏡 *is a reader-supported publication that appears twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays. In January 2004, I did the unthinkable: I left Switzerland for good
Never before had I seriously considered emigrating. To turn my back on my home country.
But now I was standing in front of a packed, overflowing car. A Chrysler Voyager. A friend's car that had to go back to Romania.
I stood next to the gray car in disbelief. The driver's door open, ready to get in.
Beads of sweat ran down my forehead and burned in my eyes.
I told myself that they were the reason for my tears.
But it was probably all a bit much of emotion.
I picked up my Nokia and called Hermina.
“Do you want me to leave Switzerland? Do you really want me to come?”
The enthusiasm in her voice was the signal to set off.
Transylvania, here I come!
The journey was long. The car struggled through slush and icy winds.
When we crossed Vienna on the highway, the car and I were already best friends.
It got really cold in Hungary.
When I arrived at the Romanian border and rolled down the window to show the customs officer my passport, the cold hit me in the face.
The thermometer on the dashboard showed minus -22 degrees Celsius.
My new life here was going to be bright...
Why am I telling you all this?
Just as I started this newsletter, I wanted to end it. With reasons.
There are two reasons:
Firstly, I notice in conversations how many people are terrified of change.
And put off making decisions until they either damage their lives or have done themselves in.
My article here (that got published in an online magazine, yeah!!) gets to the bottom of this lack of mindset and tries to point out solutions.
And secondly.
Because every good decision and every new project needs a foundation.
The foundation ensures your motivation remains there, even if things don't go according to plan.
But how do you get this foundation?
You can't just buy it.
You have to work for it.
It's hidden inside you.
Elicit it with the right questions.
This foundation is your “why”. Your purpose.
The actual reason why you think, decide, or do something.
I have developed a workshop to help you to become a decision-maker!
It helps you to find your own personal “why”.
Or to consolidate it.
Whether alone or with your partner.
Do you want to express strong decisions soon? Even crazy ones, like I did?
There are only four places left this month!
Or message me why you don't need it…
All the good for you, best decisions and see you soon.
Yours,
Daniel
