No one expected him to drop at the airport.
One minute, he was ordering a double espresso before boarding a flight to Munich. Next, he was lying on the floor, unconscious, his phone still open to Slack messages. Paramedics shocked him back to life. And when he came to, the first thing he asked was, “Did anyone call my assistant?”
In the hospital, they called it a mild heart attack.
They treated him immediately. Blood thinners. Beta blockers. A statin. “You were lucky,” the doctor said. Of course he was.
But no one asked the important question:
Why did his heart break in the first place?
Not metaphorically. Biologically.
No one questioned the constant cortisol spikes. The sugar crashes. The late-night wine followed by early morning meetings. The fact that he hadn’t had a proper rest in years. Or a slow and meaningful conversation with his wife in months.
The system treated his symptoms.
But it never touched the soil his body was planted in.
This is what most of us don’t see:
Our health isn’t isolated.
