They recycle.
Drive electric. Ditch meat.
Live in eco-high-rises with rooftop gardens and zero-waste compost bins.
But hereâs what we donât say out loud: just because your lifestyle looks virtuous doesnât mean it is.
Recently, I had a fired-up conversation with a millennial family man.
Smart. Passionate. SuccessfulâŚ
Convinced his city life, vegan diet, and EV were actively âsaving the planet.â
But ask him whatâs behind those batteries. He couldnât tell you about the islands of Indonesia being gutted for nickel. Or what child labour does to the people in Congo.
Ask about the soy fields he depends on. He doesnât see the monocultures, the topsoil loss, the dead zones downstream. Because of the herbicides they still use, despite the cancer it spreads.
He thinks heâs better than the rural cattle farmer.
But his version of âcleanâ still rides on systems that poison the land. Exploits land and people.
But worst of all? It masks profit as progress.
The real issue isnât meat vs. plants. Itâs not cities vs. farms.
Itâs the illusion of moral superiority while staying blind to deeper costs.
We make this mistake when we confuse symbols for solutions. We swap out one belief system for another, but we never ask:
âWho benefits from this narrative?â
âDoes this restore life, or just shift the damage elsewhere?â
Regeneration doesnât start with changing your habits.
It starts with changing your questions.
Like: âDoes this give back more than it takes?â âWould this make sense if I were a forest, not a consumer?â âAm I performing virtueâor practicing wisdom?â
And most of all: âIf I strip away the labels⌠does this choice actually feel life-giving?â
Thatâs where the truth lives. Not in your diet or your hashtags, but in the quiet willingness to look under the hood.
Into the ugliness of the beast we all call "modern life progress."
Because the world doesnât need more âgoodâ people.
It needs more aware ones.
If you can hold that mirror without flinching. If you can trade applause for alignment.
Then you stop being a follower of narrativesâŚ
âŚand start becoming a force that heals.
The regenerative way!
To your freedom and health,
Daniel
